How do I preview pics in Win Vista desktop?

I like to sometimes save pix to my desktop in Vista so they're easy to find. I can see the thumbnails ok, but for some reason I can't open or preview them. Anyone know how to fix this?

you double clicked them and it still didnt open? Did you install vista properly?

Anyways if you go right click on the picture and click on open with, find an application to open it with (photoshop, fireworks, paint, etc)
