do a dentist have Dr. in from of their names
just curious because i never noticed it

i am aware that they are doctors and anyone with Phd are also doctorates
but i just want to know if dentist have a Dr. in front of their name.

eg. Dr. A Bcd
or just Mr. A Bcd

this is a phenomena which came over from the States a few years ago, there everyone and his brother, and his brothers friend call themselves doctor. This includes dentist, vets and chiropractors!

Medical doctors in hospital and GPs in UK are generally M.B.s which stands for Bachelor of Medicine. Thus their Dr. title is honorary also and really refers to their job status, since they do not have a doctorate.

A small percentage of medical doctors in UK also take additional examinations and become M.D.s. This is a true Doctor of Medicine degree.

Things are different in the States the most common medical degree is the M.D. so their title is accurate.

Increasingly more professionals have began applying honorary doctor titles in UK also

All Dentists are also doctors they are able to put DR in front of thier names. Many don't bother though

You can have Dr. in front of your name in Many subjects if you have a PHD

Scientists
Paleontologists (Dr Ross Gellar - Friends)
You can even be a Dr in the studying of river bends

Yeah the do because they are "dental Physcians" Actually, anyone who works on the human body are generally classed as a doctor - kinda like mechanics : doesn't matter what part of the car they specialize in, we call them "mechanics"

No they are Mr or Mrs or Miss or Ms just like you and I.Unless they also happen to be a doctor as well as a dentist.

Yes, they do. A dentist, is a specific type of doctor. A optometrist is another specific type of doctor, just for example.
