You can't. Women don't cut hair short unless they absolutely HAVE to.
I cut mine short after a color disaster. I love it now, and I won't have it long again. It's much easier to maintain.

I think you can suggest it but dont push her into it. You say she has thick wavy hair. I have thick wavy hair too and when i cut it short, it takes alot of blowdrying and straightening. Also dont pick out hairstyles that wont go with her. For example, my husband likes short hair too but he always picks hairstyles of women that have baby fine stick straight hair for me. I always end up cutting it off and realize it looks nothing like the hairstyle that straight hair women have, then I get very depressed about the whole thing.

You don't. It's her hair. Oi! You! Get yer 'air cut!! Darling I love you. Get you're hair cut. You'd look so much nicer if you got your hair cut. See what I mean?
If you think she could do with cheering up and WANTS a new look then pay for her to have a day's pampering, including massage, makeover, hair consultation and, if she wants one, a cut, new shoes, fab dress, special meal. The works (within your budget of course.) Make sure you clean your teeth!

It's her hair, actually she should be the one to make the choice of how she wants to wear her hair. However, if you think it would look better short you can tell her nicely. When you see someone on the street with short hair, point it out to her and tell her what a nice style that is. Tell her how with shorter hair her face will stand out better.

It's not up to you, you shouldn't even be asking this. But if you really want her to then you should try talkingto her about it, if you already have then I guess you could just keep pushing the subject. Maybe make a compromise and say if you do this then I'll do this because I know you've been wanting me to for a long to. etc. Be creative.

Today her hair & tomorrow what will it be? If her hair is such a big issue with you, something is wrong. She will cut her hair when or if she chooses to, not because you think she should. A little controlling aren't you?

I think a change is always good. Also, if she's a giving person, she can donate it to Locks of Love (they make wigs with natural hair for children with cancer who have lost their hair due to radiation treatment). Your best argument: it will grow back!

Tell her NOT to cut it! My ex-girlfriend would always do the opposite of what I liked. But she had major issues!
