My Maid of honor and aunt are throwing my soon to be husband and I a couples shower instead of a traditional bridal shower. We were just curious, what kinds of gifts do people bring to a couples shower? Is it the same as the wedding gifts? Does this mean that we will be getting two different gifts from people or does this mean we will only get gifts at the shower and not the wedding?

typically not everyone that goes to your wedding is going to your shower; but yes, you will get shower gifts and wedding gifts from the same people that go to both; and yes shower gifts are the same type of gifts that you get for wedding gifts; hence 3 or 4 toasters :)

The gifts will be the same as they would have been for a bridal shower. People will choose off of the registry, or they'll make you something special. Usually, people bring physical gifts to the shower, and a card with money/check to the wedding. However, sometimes people bring physical gifts to both, or they might choose to not bring anything to the wedding. But yes, it does mean that most people who attend the shower will be getting you two gifts.

Shower gifts are nothing at all like wedding gifts. Shower gifts are incidental kind of kitchen stuff, ornamentals, etc. Stuff like towels, kitchen teatowels, organizers, serving stuff, bakeware, etc. Usually people spend 10 to 20 dollars.
For a wedding, people will usually buy something more substantial, maybe spending 30 to 50 dollars.

Here is an idea....at my cousin's couple shower everyone chipped in like $10.00 or it can be however much you want and we got them a group gift....instead of getting a whole bunch of presents you can get a big one.
