Yeah, I think you guys do need a break. I've been in my relationship almost 4 years, and I just turned 22. I am thinking about taking a break as well. I think it just means you need time to be single, and see what each other really wants. You also need time to find out who you are as an individual. It can be beneficial to you both because then you'll have more insight on what you want, and who you are as a woman.

At your ages, it will probably lead to growing apart. A break can be good in some cases but it's usually just an excuse because one of the people want out and don't want to end it suddenly or they're not sure if the grass really is greener on the other side. It totally depends on your relationship though. You both are so young and there's so much life out there. During this break, one or both of you are bound to realize that there's more to life than just each other and there are different and more exciting people out there. Then again, you two might just see there's nothing better out there and end up together forever. It really depends on the circumstances. In my experience, a break means it's over and the breakup is just being drug out.

a break can goes 2 ways. it could be beneficial if you guys still love each other but just need some individual space for the moment. but do make sure that the break is not too long as too long a break will really cause you guys to drift apart and become a real break. However is the love is no longer there, then a break is just a simple way of saying lets break-up.

How could a break be benefitial unless you do not intend on a lasting relationship? If you want to be with the person you can't just decide to take a break here and there, you are either with them or you are not. If you need a break, maybe you shouldnt be together in the first place.

Taking a break in a relationship ecspecially after 5 years odds of getting back together and having a healthy relationship is like getting struck by lightening...
not saying it doesn't happen but very rarely does it happen and work.
in my experience every relationship ecspecially the ones that were multiple years long all ended in failure and every one of them had breaks...
what are you breaking from...after 5 years you should see a couples therapist...theres nothing wrong with that...go on vacation to a bed and breakfast...
figure something out other then breaks...breaks lead to messing around with others...dating others...heartache...loss of trust...and a messy break up
good luck

wow, they should just call it make it or break it. Not a break. None of my breaks have turned out bennificial to my preference. My advice? Don't wait around. Put him/her officially close to the door so you can quickly kick him out if needed, and fill your current surroundings with friends and dates. Not to be mean, but usually that is a nice way of saying- hey, we are a lil' too serious for my liking, I want to explore other people, But Hey! You are great and I want to keep you close in case it dosen't work out with the others! Don't be that fool, make them the ***.

I dont know, only time will tell. I think its good, you got together so young, your still figuring out who you are and what you want in life. If your truly meant to be together, you will be.
