Antitheism (sometimes anti-theism) is a direct opposition to theism. The word has had a range of applications; in secular contexts, it typically refers to direct opposition to belief in any deity, while in theistic ones, it sometimes refers to opposition to an actual god or gods. It is not to be confused with atheism. Atheism is the disbelief in one or more gods, whereas antitheism is against theistic beliefs.

I'm not sure once you've embraced atheism why you would go the extra step to antitheism. Surely Atheism is a sufficient philosophical position in this regard.

Be that as it may, people's religious opinion should be respected as long as they do no harm, either to their adherents or other members of society.

Not I. I truly believe in religious freedom, just as I believe in separation of church and state, which exists to protect religious freedom. I am not-religious, not anti-religious. There's a considerable difference. The only people I make it a point to oppose are those who selfishly want their particular choice of faith to dominate all life on this planet instead of leaving it to each individual to decide as a matter of conscience.

Totally. Theism is a pox on humankind and a never-ending source of evil.

I'm an antitheist only in the sense of keeping religion out of our laws and government. Other than that...people are free to believe as much as they want to. Just leave me alone.

I'm antithetical only to Christianity and Islam, as they are the only two religions known to man that have a built in compunction to convert the world.

Every other religion has built in an awareness that it may not be the right one and that all paths are potentially correct.

I am all for people believing what they want. But I am also all for people telling those people that what they believe is a crock. No sacred cows...
