We seem to pay taxes for everything. Income tax, national insurance, VAT, local community tax, road tax, utility bills, tv license. It seems we just work to pay tax. Any other countries got more tax demands than us?

No we are not, in Sweden they can pay up to 70% tax.

However, that tax actually makes stuff that we in the UK have to pay for, free (prescriptions, childcare etc.).

So I guess we are the most taxed, with the least to show for it.

Go to Scandinavia, it's the same just higher tax. Income tax in Sweden is about 35% and if you have a high income you pay and extra 30% in income tax. So if you make over 30 000 kr (i think it is, might b ehigher now) so say 100 000 monthly you pay 35% on the 30 000 then another 30% on the 70 000 more you make. You also pay a small fee to see your Gp or to go to the emergency room.

Sweden are taxed more i think all around 40% regardless

Or DANIEL N seems to know it is 70% on a high income....UK taxed only 40% on high incomes

Best thing in Ireland....if you an artist you get taxed nothing !!!! How about that! 0 zich nothing.....but then again people have to buy your art for you to live.

TO DANRSN

This is true the taxes paid in sweden go towards things we here in the UK have to pay for. However you forgot to look at the percentage population of unemployment in the UK , half of our taxes are paying for them to do nothing at all. True some can't work but alot don't even look for work...and what about teenage pregnancy.....we are paying for children that aren't even ours!!!!

I think sweden has a 70% tax rate if you earn over 100,000, a lot of european countries have a higher tax then england, england just have more indirect ones which affect foreigners when they come over.

I don't think so. I suspect that the French, Germans and Swedes pay more. But they get more back.

I suppose you get what you pay for.
