I am in the IT department of our company and we are currently running Windows XP Professional. I believe they are talking about upgrading to Windows Vista, but neither I nor anyone else here has any experience with it. Is there a way we can get a free copy of Vista just to play around with and learn it, *legally*?

First off, I'll give you a link to Ed Bott's blog over at ZDNet:

He has been "evaluating" Vista for some time, and he gives quite a few nice tips and tweaks.

Next, I would suggest that you check out TechNet, and see about purchasing a subscription-depending on which one, they will give you free software to "Practice" on; not just Vista, but virtually everything that they produce. Perhaps you can convince your boss that it is an investment in education.

by turning right into a offender. And Vista makes use of lots greater supplies than XP, so in case you haven't any longer have been given a minimum of two GB of RAM it won't run nicely. in case you desire loose application, then get application it extremely is presented loose by the producer(s) of the appliance. Open source is one such source. Linux is an open source working gadget. in case you desire to apply advertisement application, then pay for it. in case you do no longer, it extremely is stealing. human beings have labored no longer undemanding, oftentimes for months or years (particular, it takes that long) to create their products. They need to gets a commission for his or her efforts. How might you experience in case you had labored on something for months, making plans on making a residing with it, and somebody began giving it away loose, and you probably did no longer get a penny for all your attempt?
