Depends on why someone cheated in the first place. If it's because the cheat is an egomaniac and doesn't really care about others and is only interested in his own gratification, he'll most likely cheat again as soon as the need arises.

Sometimes though people cheat only once because they never did it before and could not imagine the amount of hurt and embarrassment they have to go through with their partner once the cheat comes clean. They'll never do it again.

No, but it makes future relationships difficult if your new partner knows you haven't been faithful in the past.
