Dr said it was a cyst and to squeeze it while in the shower and it would pop. I did this several times and greyish thick stuff came out- It now is red and swollen and seem to have gone from a pea size to the size of a dime. It was never swollen and red before- should I go and have this lanced now and should I get on anitbiotics and see if it goes down? Also is clyndimycin a good antibiotic to take for this?

Thank all of you for your advise. I went to the doctor today. It is a cibatious cyst. I am to place warm moist heat on it daily. No neosporin or alchol will do anything for it so he told me not to use it. I am to clean it well when I shower. If it pops again I am to let it drain and I was placed on biaxin 2x daily so that I do not develop staff.

go back to the doctors to have it drained they give you a local where the cyst is then lance it may be a bit uncomfortable but in the long run it will be worth it they can also give you antibiotics if you need them it sounds like you might have a bit of an infection there are you sure he said a cyst as with cyst's you cannot squeeze yourself as they have no head on them this sounds more like a boil to me in the way you have explained it .hope this helps a bit .

Your doctor said what?

There is no point in taking an antibiotic it you have a large abscess in your armpit as the drug won't be able to 'reach' the infection.

Have you had these before? Have you had them in the other armpit? Is it red and swollen? Does your arm hurt when you move it?

If they answer is 'yes' to any of the above then get it looked at by a doctor. They will make a small incision in it using local anaesthetic and drain the pus.

Good luck!

You should go back to the MD and let them look at it. It sounds as if it is now infected. I really don't understand why they would have told you to squeeze it yourself. You'll also need antibiotics for treatment. Clindamycin is a good antibiotic, but, you may need something different for the type of infection you have. Seek help quick with this, as it can turn into something more serious, like blood poison, for example.

I had one of these, bloody annoying. They take ages to go but the best thing I found was to leave them alone, when you squeeze them they tend to get infected , hence the redness and swelling . Leave it alone for a week or so and see if it shrinks in size, if not and it gives you jip or you feel generally unwell see your Dr.

Dont panic, if you squeezed it, it will go red, i often get them, its your pores blocking from deodrants, dont use spray ones!!! My Dr advised roll on's. It will clear up after a few days bur sometimes goes darker, so don't panic, just keep an eye on it!!!
