sounds like you've just got yourself a quirky little guy! the sitting clapping thing is a behavior some dogs just automatically do, and it is very cute! you can teach him to do it on cue by saying something like "sit pretty!" everytime he does it and then praising him. way to go adopting an adult dog! hope you have fun with him!

Totally normal dog behavior. My pug does the same thing. She even hugs you when she sleeps and covers her head with the blanket. Some dogs are just a little different but that is what makes them yours.

Sounds like he has a great little personality. My schnauzer likes to bury his head when he sleeps. He curls up and tucks his head down. If he is fine with it, then let it be. Try the book store and read up on your little guy.

i have a chi he is only 2 but he covers himself up when he sleeps and when he gets excited he will sit up and put his paws together which looks like clapping. it is perfectly normal for them to do this. i hope you like your new chi i love mine, they are great little babies!
