Do you wake up early on weekdays?
You're only 17, so you shouldn't be on 9-5 schedules yet, and it's pretty normal at that age to sleep in on weekends. I used to, but I was also up very late.
However, they do say that when you're older, and you start that 9-5 routine, your body should get used to waking up early on weekends. Some people can develop "weekend headaches" from getting too much sleep because your body isn't used to it. I developed these because I drink caffinated tea during workdays, and I don't drink it on weekends. That combined with the sleeping in an extra hour or two, I would get pounding headaches.
Over-sleeping in adults is also a sign that something could be wrong, like depression. However, its totally normal in a 17-year-old.
I wouldn't worry unless you start to notice that it's taking a toll on your health.

I do it all the time, but I can tell you through reading I have found that it is bad for your sleep patterns. You should go to sleep and wake up at the same times every night regardless of the day of the week. This will normalize your sleep patterns and make you feel more alert and active. You CANNOT "make up" lost sleep later on by sleeping late on the weekend.

For children 8 hours of sleep are recommended because they are still growing. As an adult, studies show that people who sleep 6 hours a night are likely to live a little longer than those who sleep more than 6. So, something about sleeping less has something to do with your health.

1 pm sounds late. I usually recharge on the weekends too sleep until 10 am. cause during the week I don't get enough sleep. I don't think its bad unless you are depressed about something

no... it's bad for your health to work/ go to school 50hrs a week and sleep 5 hours a night. Sleep is only bad when you don't do anything else.

"They" recommend always going to sleep and waking up at the same time to keep your inner clock regulated. I'm like, screw that! I'm not going to get up at 5:30am on Saturday!!
No, it won't hurt you...you're a typical teenager.

No, it's not bad for your health. If your body didn't require the extra sleep, you wouldn't sleep in so long.

No, your body is just catching up on sleep. That's normal for teens. Get all the rest you can, college is just around the corner.
