No actually your getting the laws confused. Saddam killed his own people in a non war time, and in cold blood. The US is actively engaged ina war, therefore any losses are considered colateral damage, although 90% of civilian deaths are from insurgent attacks on mosques and marketplaces.
If we withdrawl, than the liberals should hang because all those civialians who voted pro democracy, and all those iraqi police will be slaughtered.
Keep in mind that we are not at "total war" with iraq, therefore we keep the civilian deaths down to an absolute minimum. We even try and jailed the marines in haditha that kiled that family out of anger, in a time of war that usually would have never been investigated but we are so humane and decent as a country that we brought them to justice. However, I dont believe they should have been convicted, but thats just my 2 cents.
Quit tying the hand of our troops with these comments guised as some remote care for the iraqi people, you know you just hate your country, you don't love iraqis.

The US is not aiming to kill Iraqi civilians. Most of the civilians are being killed by the insurgents, and if we leave even more civilians will die because the insurgents will be able to do as they please.
If you want to support them then go over to the streets of Baghdad and protest, lets see what the Iraqi people and insurgents do to support you.

If you are talking about these civilians being in the wrong place at the wrong time and caught in the middle of a battle, they are called collateral damage and nobody will hang. If you are talking about the civilians who choose to take arms to protect their family or property, they will be considered combatants and again nobody will hang. If you are talking about the civilians minding their own business and being ambushed, raped and slaughtered, the US troops committing the acts will be held responsible and have been.

Your one of those that think "Insurgance" = "Civilian".
Get over yourself. The Soldiers are defending a country that isn't even theirs and you sit here and accuse them of killing civilians. You should definately be ashamed if your American and not say crap if your not.
When you get off your a$$ and serve a tour, let me know.

Considering how few civilians are actually killed by the US military - it should be the terrorists who are deliberately targeting civilian locations for car bombs and suicide attacks.
But you really don't care about the Iraqi civilians - do you?

Nobody will, at least not officially. Death squads compounding the problem will avenge their side's deaths themselves.
And as a response to a previous answerer, Saddam was hanged, not hung - the questioner was correct. Laundry is hung, people are hanged; grammar 101.

The terrorists, because they hide in the homes of civilians and then cry foul when innocents get hurt. The only ones to blame are the animal terrorists staying among the civilians.
And they are "terrorists", not "insurgents". Terrorists hide among civilians and other times blow up civilians.
Now you know.

In combat there are unintended casualties, sometimes that can not be avoided. There are cases of civilians being killed in non-combat situations, those two cases are all over the news and those soldiers are being held personally responsible.

Sadam was hung (not hanged) for MANY war crimes... not just a collection of random civilian killings. Yes there have been tragic deaths during this current battle, on all sides. The question is, are we going to solve our frustration by continuing to kill, or can we be peaceful. Violence begets violence, and unfortunately half-hearted peace also begets violence.
