Yes, they should. Most of them are not law-abiding and they don't respect the police force. Self-discipline???? Never heard of that. I personally asked a local Shanghainese friend and she told me that the Shanghainese DON'T respect the police at all. That is why you can see almost everyday on the street, the citizens and the police quarrelling and arguing over summonses and what nots!!!!

I don't think you can stop Chinese parents from continuing this tradition. Sometimes the self-discipline can become too strict, and too much emphasis on law abidance can create a paranoid society. I guess you are asking this question because you think the Chinese should losen up?

Who said they did not have it already? I have lived here for two years and they are a more discipline and thoughtful culture than America. The family unit is stronger and all they have far fewer on the violence issues than are still prevalent in American culture. Learn more about your subject before asking these questions.

I don't see any logic in this question, it makes no sense to me. I think in general the Chinese are a disciplined culture and when you make statements like you just did you are being racist.
