Take the possitive terminal off of the battery and let it set for 30 mins. Then put the terminal back on the battery, and fire it up, this may have turned the light off. but check what kind of fuel you are running through the engine if it contains ethenol, or any alternitive fuel, this may set off the sensor. But if not than any of the sensors to the motor could just be unpluged, or may have gone bad, if this is the case, probably nothing is wrong w/ the car, it is just sending a bad signal to the computer.

The proper method for resetting he check engine light is to disconnect the negative battery cable, turn the key to crank for a few seconds and reconnect the cable. This way you do not have to reprogram your radio.
If after driving, the light comes back on, take it to Autozone and they will check the codes free and tell you what is needed to fix it.

this sounds dumb but if your gas cap is not sealing correctly it will cause your check engine light to come on. or you might need an oil change. try the new gas cap first, its the cheapest. if not try an oil change, if its still on, go to autozone and have them run a test for you.

it could be a sensor that went bad or even low fluid, who knows with cars these days.

Take it to the dealer instead of "mechanics".
