My husband and I are looking to adopt a baby. We’d prefer a domestic adoption, but we still cant afford an adoption agency. I’d really like a newborn for my first. I want the whole experience. Later we plan to adopt a child from foster care. I know many people say if you cant afford an agency how can you afford a child, but not a lot of people realize agencies generally cost about 25,000. What parent has that laying around? Serious answers only please

I think that it is unfair for them to charge that much. No wonder so many children go through their lives in foster homes and group homes. I think that You should be required to take classes and then have to get a certian grade in them to be able to adopt a child. Other things like that not charge 25,000
I know of one adoption agencey, it is in sonoma county, in California...
The agency is called "True To Life Childrens Services" they are non profit, and assist alot of children and families.

I don't know where you live but I used to work for an agency of the Department of Children and Families. It was a children's welfare agency that offered child services, fostering and adoption. It was free to adopt but you have to go through the hoops and qualify, like any other agency, the whole process took about a year. It is affiliated with teh YMCA social services here in Florida. Now the children are all ages from 0-18 years. They do have babies but it is not a baby farm but they do have babies depending on who is on the records at the time . You might have to wait but it is worth investigation. Look up the YMCA on the internet for social services or call the Child WElfare Department of your State.

http://www.commonwealthadoption.org/ is a wonderful agency. We will be using them when we adopt.

Are you an agency required state? If not you can always go through an adoption attorney for a domestic adoption. That will save you money. If you do need to go through an agency, do an independent adoption. That is where you take on the task of finding a birthmom. That will save you a ton of money in fees for having the agency do it for you. I've talked to quite a few people who have done that and they really liked that method. That is what we are thinking of doing.

It might take longer to find a birthmom that way, it might not. You never know. You can place ads on adoption sites like http://www.adoptads.com in search of a birthmom. A lot of people have great success with those type of sites.

Unfortuntly the cost runs about the same for domestic or international. There are grants you can apply for. Whenever dealing with domestic tho you always have that chance of spending the money and not getting the child and there is literally no recourse. International you can get a baby around 6-8 months old is the youngest and that is from Guatemala. Most babies in other countries are 18 to 3 yrs of age and are in orphanges. In Guatemala they are in foster homes and get much better care, both nutrition wise and socially... If you want more information please feel free to email me. We are in the process of doing an adoption and it's almost complete
