For carry-on, a very small aerosol can (less than 30 grams) is OK. For anything larger, it has to go checked - but, even then, only one of an item and a limit of 16 ounces. Last month, on a flight from Korea to China, my wife's hairspray (16 ounces can) had only a little left in it, but was confiscated since the container size was too large. When her checked luggage went through the x-ray, they took a second can of hairspray out. I think most airlines now let up to 1 ounce (30 grams) in carry-on and up to 16 ounces in checked luggage for personal cosmetic items. If you need a medical aerosol, make sure you have a physician's label on the item.

Hi, pressurised containers like aerosol spray can is a prohibited item in air travel. This is because of the low air pressure at heights, your aerosol container can beome over-pressureised and may explode in flight. This can happen should the airplane has a pressurisation problem.
If you need to bring your hair spray, transfer the contents into a pump-spray container to put inside your check-in luggage.
So please remember not to include any any pressurised containers in any of your luggages when you do air travel. All airlines website do carry this warning as this is applied internationally.

If they do allow aerosol cans, you'd better take it in your carryon. I put a brand new can in mine, flying from Ky. to California....and by the time I got there it was empty. I think it must've been something to to with the altitude and pressure or the temps.
Anyhow, it was freeze spray...and I had some very stiff clothing. LOLOL
Hope this helps!

You need not to hand carry it since liquid products or any aerosol materials are not allowed as hand carry....better in your luggage.
