Whey protein helps buid muscle mass, and therefore adding to your overall body mass. However by working out your loosing body fat mass. So the added weight may be due to the increase muscle mass, and not due to your fat. It depends on what you want to achieve through your training. If loosin total body mass is your aim then prevent from using the whey protien, however if you want to loose fat mass rather than muscle mass, carry on what your doin.

yup whey is for building muscle so if you are not a serious lifter you do not need the whey,go with more of a balanced meal replacement if you want to supplement...I like the myoplex shakes but even they have too much protien if you are not lifting so only make half a pack at a time.

don't take whey before you workout, take it as a regular diet supplement or in addition to your diet. Never work out of a full stomach.

whey is excellent for building muscle/mass.

protein is for athletes not just bodybuilders I would cut down to one a day (protein serving) if you are trying to add muscle then you are doing find just eat right and step up your cardio excercises and you can still take the protein
