Is it just me or does the use of bad English bother anyone else. I might understand the use of bad grammar but not using a spell checker is just being lazy. Sometimes these questions are difficult to read because the wording and spelling are so bad.

It drives me nuts. I grade standardized tests for students in the various states, and the grammar is terrible, even for the older students. They use internet abbreviations, and even get the simplest words wrong. And this is on English Language Arts, where they know they're being graded on their grammar. I notice it so much now, after grading thousands upon thousands of tests, that I can't read the works of some authors because they use comma splices and other grammatical errors so frequently.

YES!! Those persons that continue to use bad grammar and spelling while asking or answering questions is a major frustration for me. Where did they ever learn to write (ok, type) like that? It was never anything I was taught in school. And as for the spell check thing, you are correct again-it is just pure lazy attitude. I try to read all the questions but if they are using that internet lingo I usually just go to the next question. I find that some of the words are almost impossible for me to figure out what they are trying to say or ask (must be a sign of my age, or something). So, yes it does bother me (sometimes probably too much) but I just try to decipher what is meant by the strange language being used.

I agree 100%! The spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills of a nation native of the English language is atrocious!
I take pride in being able to express myself so completely in words; in no other way am I as adept.
And yes, some of these questions are so badly phrased, I've been unable to answer them.
Keep in mind, there's a lot of teenagers on this site, although since they are STILL in school, you'd think they'd be better at it! They use a lot of abbreviated slang, I've noticed.

It does not bother me to much, because English is a second language for me. Therefore my own spelling and grammar are often incorrect.
My native language is Dutch, and it is a language with quite difficult spelling and grammar rules, so most people can not write it correct anyway. That does not bother me too much, I just make sure mine is correct for formal letters

I think it's too much to ask for users of this forum. They are typing quickly, they want to make sure their answers are closest to the top....also you forgot a question mark and a comma in your explanation. Also, there is a grammatical ambiguity in the beginning of your sentence, "I might understand the use of bad grammar.....".
Do you mean " I might understand that people use bad grammar" or
"When people use bad grammar it might be possible for me to understand them". You see, we all use bad grammar or spelling.
Vigilance my boy.

It gives me a headache but I have come to realize that if they expect people to answer their question then they should be understandable. I also do recognize that some people have slow computers so their frustration shows by their grammar and spelling. Really my only main problem is these people from India who post questions that one has to make themselves an idiot to understand.

I agree with you completely. It is a reflection of their ignorance and laziness. It is actually shameful when my kids use better grammar than grown and so called "educated" people.

Not as much as it does when people ask this question over and over and over again like it's something new and creative or there is suddenly going to be a different answer aside from "yes, I do!" and "Get a life".
