I just got a vertical hood piercing yesterday. When can I change the ring. And what is the best ball to buy (size wise and length) for max pleasure?

As far as changing the ring, the person who pierced you should have given you a handout with information on it about hygiene, risks and information. Each person heals differently, but I would say once all the swelling, tenderness and redness is gone and the ring moves freely, you can change jewelry. Just make sure the new bar is properly cleaned and sanitized. Now... as far as size for pleasure... each person is different on their preferences. You'll have to experiment a little to find one that works best for you. Start smaller and work your way up till you find the one that fits your needs. Good luck!!

When in doubt, it probably isn't healed yet. Your piercer should've given you a bar (I'm assuming you got the bar and not a hoop) that was extra long for the swelling. Once you've completely healed, you should be able to move it up and down easily and without pus coming out. I'd recommend going back to the piercer who did you and asking what length you should go for next. You can even have them put it in for you (usually about a $5 charge). When I had to switch my jewelery out, it took almost an hour. I was so miserable. By the time I got it in, I'd swollen up again from all the work. :(

As for personal pleasure, it is up to you. I like very little wiggle room for my piercing (luckily my body doesn't reject piercings quickly at all) so I get max surface contact.

Well, the person who pierced it should have explained to you that you should not change the jewelry in this piercing for about 2-3 months. As far as best jewelry to buy, the gauge should match what you have now, but length and ball size is more a matter of personal choice (though length should be something that is appropriately fitting, not too big, not too small)

If you have questions about what gauge you have (most likely its 14g or 12g) you should ask the person who pierced it. Make sure the jewelry you get to replace it is a high quality material. Good luck.

My best friend had hers done about 1 1/2 years ago, she too had the hoop, when it comes to time to change it wait at the very least 2-3 months and then you may need help. Good luck and enjoy!
