I just got a flat screen LCD TV, but I can't even get the basic "free channels". No matter what channel I put it on, everything is grey and fuzzy. I live in a high rise building with cable already installed. Do I need to still call the cable company to have them come over and give me the cable wire to screw into the wall, or is there a place where I can buy one & do it myself?

from your question it sounds like you didn't hook up the cable yet.

what you need is called a "coaxial cable" and you can buy then in any department store's electronics section.

screw the one end of the cable onto the tv's cable input and the other to the cable jack on the wall. it should only cost you about $15-$20.

there's a link to what you need on the wal-mart webiste.

Do broadcast(non-cable) channels come in clearly? If they don't, then there might be something up with the tv. If they do, then you probably need to call the cable company to get them to come out and test the signal strength or to see if there are any other problems.

If you can, try hooking up another tv to the cable to make sure the cable is working.

How do you expect the cable channels to get into your TV? Do you think that they will jump out of the wall, run around on the floor for a while, and then decide to jump into your TV? Does your brain know you're trying to think again? How do you find your way home?

if you haven't hooked up your coax(the thick cable that screws into the back of tv from wall) then you need to go buy one. Can get at electronic stores and places like walmart. Make sure you measure how far from wall to tv, and give your self a little extra for slack.

Ask one of your neighbors. They have more of a vested interest in helping you and have been through the most similar experience before.
