My husband works for a reputable firm and he is paid a very handsome salary with excellent perks. He slogs 10-12 hours a day as it is a fairly young company and they are becomming very successful.
The problem is the CEO has a very bad temper and curses all the time. At a dinner reception (given in appreciation of my husband's team's success) the CEO (obviously drunk) used 4 letter expletives in almost every sentence. There were about 15 people at the reception that went on for 3-4 hours and all were putting up with his abhoring speeches.
How do you handle the situation. Is is bad etiquette to leave the reception early? You cannot complain to anyone because he is the CEO, you cannot afford to quit the job over this because you need it, but how to deal with the constant bad language?
Thanks for your advice :)

It's more unethical to get drunk, and speak foul language at a business dinner reception, so don't worry about leaving it earlier than usual. You and your husband aren't forced to stand there and listen to nonsence.

Does this dirty-mouthed CEO have a superior? Or are there other CEOs in the company? If so, your husband and his collegues should "report" him. This CEO should, at least, have his attention called upon so he can stop with the vulgar language.

make a point of never using bad language in front of him and maybee introduce an annonomous swear jar into the office..... try and make a joke out of it and get the whole office involved - every time a swear word is uttered athat person puts money into the swear jar and that money goes to charity or towards a night out for the staff or something - if the whole office is involved it is not directed at him but he would then become aware of how much he swears.... just an idea

Well the very handsome salary and excellent perks are obviously worth more to you than your disdain for bad language and bad anger. Take it or leave it.

he was DRUNK. (maybe he's an alcoholic). drunk people do drunk things.

LAUGH IT OFF. remember it's not an everyday thing. let loose. give the man his freedom; as long as he's not saying things like the 'n' word in public or the 'f' word in front of children - what's the harm? really?
you are grown enough that it shouldn't bother you what other grown people do as long as it's not hurting you - personally.
