It's pleasing to the eye, and usually frames the name of the clock maker. I used to see 8:20 a lot too, but not so much anymore.

Whoops - unless you're talking about digital clocks, without hands. In that case, I've seen a bunch of different times on those, but I can't speak for everyone.

10 past 10 (or 9 past 10) appears to be a smiling face on a non-digital clock. 10 to 2 would also do but probably people don't have good associations with that time (most people are either asleep or at work at that time), at 10 past 10 however you are enjoying your evening, having a nice conversation and a good glass of wine... wish it was 10.10 right now... (it's 2.04 pm where I am, at work....)

actully it's 10:10 as at that time both the hands of the clock look like a smile...and they look good that ways .....the only basic reason is this....rest digital clocks don't have any meaning to keep the time 10:10.......so keep smiling...................u can cross check it's correct...
