I just ordered and received stoneware plates. The rims--the entire band around the edge of the plates--are higher on one side of the plate than the other. Kind of wavy. Is this normal for stoneware, or should I be sending it back as defective? I didn't notice this on the bowls, which don't have flared rims.

Our older stoneware is uneven, but I attributed that to the fact that it's a cheap brand. The new set is from a better brand, so I don't know whether to expect that uneven edge or not.

hard to say without seeing them but doesn't sound good.....if they are hand thrown then there will be some variation but yours sound like it is more than that.....I'd probably send them back
