No, have you ever really examined one? Those things are very thin. It's just three thin, very thin, pieces of cloth, much like a wedding veil but a little bit more screened. Because they are one in front of another, you get the impression that it's opaque and hidden. I have some and I like them. When I was married, my Pakistani husband hated it and yanked it off of my face wheenver I would try to wear it around him.

no James, it doesn't change the sound :)
its so light fabric and not tied to the mouth :)
