My youngest will start kindergarten this fall and I plan on stayin home, I will prob go back to school part time but I want to be here to put them on the bus in the morning and get them off the bus in the afternoon and go to all the field trips and class parties that I can...it's wonderful to be able to be as involved in my children's lives as I am and I feel that they are and will be better people for it. They know that I will be there when they need me. And I know that not everyone can do this, we all do the best we can.....

Since I've been a stay at home mom I know we saved a lot of $ from not putting our children into daycare.I have a 23 month old and a school aged child. I think its best to stay at home with them while their young, but you also have to give them their independency where they can be around their peers their own age. Once they reach the appropriate age level like 2-4 years old, I think it okay for them to go to daycare part time if you don't want them to be gone all day. I'm working on that right now, so then I can gradually get a part time job or go to school. It also gives you a break because being a stay at home mom is a 24 hour job. I'm so overwhelmed right now but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world because my kids will know that I put them first but now its my turn. lol good luck....

I am a stay at home Mom and now my son is in Kinder., but i also have a 18 month old. When the 18 month old starts school i will prob get at least a part-time job!! I love being able to spend all of my time taking care of my kids and hubby!! It really is a full time job!! It never ends!! I can not stand it when people say i sit on my butt all day, because i am always doing something, cooking, cleaning, baths, homework, playing, clothes, bed, bills, t-ball, errands, etc!! The list goes on and on!!! Most people only have a few tasks at work and a Mom never stops. Our job does not go 9-5!! Ours job is 24/7!!!

I have 2 out of 4 children in school. I plan on continuing to "stay home" once all 4 are in school. However, staying home is really not the correct term, since I will have 4 children to get to possibly 3 different schools, errands to run, etc... If I am at home, I am cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, etc... And yes, I still have time to volunteer once a week at my children's school. I am very blessed to be able to be home full time. I think it is a great thing for MY family- it may not be for everyone. I enjoy the fact that if one of my children has a field trip, is sick, whatever, I can be there. I enjoy the fact that I can have dinner ready at 5:00pm each day- not walk in the door at 5:00pm and try to figure out what to make. I know that not everyone can do it financially. But if you really look at the expenses, sometimes you realize that money is being spent on wants, not needs. Anyways, as far as if I know anyone else who has children in school and stay home, I have 5 sister in laws, and we all stay home with our children.

I have a 1st grader and a 4 y/o who will be starting half day junior kindergarten in the fall. I still havent decided what to do yet, but I know I won't be obtaining full time employment when they are both gone all day. I am enjoying being able to work in their classrooms, volunteer at the school, etc. I plan on doing this as long as possible. Plus, I figure that it will take at least 2/3 years for me to get this house organized! Maybe work on their baby books, that type of stuff that gets seriously neglected!

If it is financially possible then it would be great to stay at home. However for me it is not the case. Me and my husband have a mortgage to pay, we both work full time and we have a 3 year old plus i am 15 weeks pregnant. Id like to be able to stay at home now as my daughter hasn't started school yet. Anyone who has a choice is very lucky in my opinion

I did .... I had a hobby that turned into a money maker which turned into a part-time job. I was home to get the kids off to school, I was generally home so they could come home for lunch & I was home every day when they came home from school.
It was difficult financially but didn't like the idea of my kids coming home to an empty house every night & day care would have eaten up whatever pay I made anyway.

hmmm - I am at this question now when my baby goes to school next year - and i find I have plenty to do! I get up at 6 - get coffee and breakfast started and get my oldest off at 7 - then i do some laundry and wake my son - get him off at 8 - feed horses and do errands with the youngest. she gets the buss at noon, then i have 3 hour window to meet with a friend, pick up stuff or shop, or stay home and clean. 3 - first is home to work with me, make dinner, kids are home at 4 we have sports, dad comes home and whew - still picking up and doing homeowork till i drop asleep. How would I have time to work? There is always something coming up - or parents to care for too.
My home is warm, comforting and I am not too sterssed to answer questions and deal with small trgedies - like forgotten books and mean friends.

Not me, some of us don't get to be so lucky. I've done both: stayed home with baby and had to work work work and both jobs are hard but from experience I can say without a doubt that working outside the home when you have young children is soooo much harder on you and the child. So if you can stay at home..........DO IT!!!!

I know a few and do it myself. I always have plenty to do and want to be home when my kids get home from school. I do all the shopping, I take care of all the financial aspects of the household, I have rescued animals to take care of, I take online classes and I keep the house in order.
