This can depend on the reason why the person fainted but generally you should get the person to sit up (if a chair is nearby, otherwise on the floor) and put their head between their knees for a minute or so. If you have access to cold water, offer them some to drink also.

If the person is breathing and is not expected to throw up (really important because the person could choke to death on their own vomit) , lay them down on their back and raise their legs a bit. Check their ABC's (airway, breathing, circulation---> breathing and has a pulse) every 30 sec to 1 minute. Do not make them drink water until they are WIDE AWAKE. The person should be back to normal after a few minutes at the latest, if not call a doctor.

maybe they fainted because they had low blood sugar, so you could maybe give him or her a piece of fruit or something with some sugar in it. my sister fainted once because she hardly ate anything. but after that, my mom gave her some watermelon & some water & she was fine.

Lay them down supine(on their back). Take some blankets or pillows and raise the legs up slightly.That will do for starters.
