Morally I think pot shouldn't be any worse than alcohol; I live in a country where pot is legal and while I've never used it I've seen loads of people using pot or drinking... well the pot seems to have less effect if anything, and generally makes people more mellow while unfortunately a good percentage of drunks are aggressive drunks. Nor do many people who use pot go on to harddrugs, if I could make any statement about going on to harddrugs I'd say possibly more heavy drinkers do, at least as far as extasy use at parties is concerned.
I've never really understood the common sense of outlawing pot & allowing alcohol, I'm sure that's only because of socio-economic reasons and not because the effects of pot are really worse.

Ethically/morally speaking you should use any drug only in moderation so you don't do anything stupid. And of course in the US or another country that's very strict against drug use, it's also very rude and inconsiderate to put other people at risk against their wishes; don't light one up at someone else's place. Even if I may personally think you're doing much better on a single joint than some other guy who may be obnoxiously drunk, as long as the obnoxious drunk doesn't try to drive or assault someone, the host could get in far more serious trouble over you.

social drug use is not a moral issue, it may be a legal one but it is not about morals. the issue of morals may arise because of the actions of people under the influence of drugs (or alcohol), but the participation in the use of drugs is not the issue

have never used drugs, other than medication - but i have friends that do and i get scared for them. I personally dont see the point in risking being busted with drugs or busted having taken drugs and risking your life to take drugs when you can have a fun time without them. I frown upon drug taking when it starts to take over the persons life, if it changes the person, if the person starts dealing drugs and if the person starts to become sneaky and stealing to buy drugs. I guess if a person takes something out in a nightclub to have a good time and it harms no one other than themselves then i dont have a problem with it,but you will never catch me doing it

Using drugs isn't a moral issue. It is an issue about whether you want to stay healthy and sane, or whether you want to be ill and act insane during your life.
