Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son of the covenant, Issac. This showed his love for Father God first and his trust in the Word of Father God in making that covenant a reality and his faith in Father God's wisdom to know best. No fuss and no bother just truth.

God provided the perfect sacrifice so that the son of Abraham did not have to die when Abraham followed God's orders. : )

People misunderstand the purpose of God asking Abraham to sacrifice His son Issac|
God had a very specific purpose in doing so|
His intent was to bring Abraham from one level of understand to another|
When God first revealed Himself to Abraham, Abraham had very little knowledge of the nature of God (unlike what we have today)|
So when God asked him for the sacrifice, Abraham thought: "that makes sense, all the local gods ask the fathers of their sons to do the same, so this is what this god is asking."
So when the angel stays Abraham's hand, "Surprise! Surprise!" the true God is not like the local gods at all|
"Abraham, I do not ask fathers to sacrifice their sons for me, what I am going to do is sacrifice *my* Son for *you* instead - for I am a God of love, who wishes to give you your heart's desires, I am not simply a petty god who has to be appeased by you doing tricks like a circus dog for me|"

Abraham could have tried to run away with Isaac to try to escape God,but he didn't .He did as God commanded him to do and place Isaac on the alter for sacrifice.Abraham proved that he would follow God's laws and orders no matter if it meant losing his only son.

My beef with it is that only an insane god would ask a believer to kill his son for him, whether he intended to go through with the killing or not, for Abraham did not know this.
