Well that depends on a lot of factors - age, height & weight just to name a few. Medication for such things needs to be monitored and adjusted, with dosages changed until the desired effect is seen. If your son is a hormonal teenager, that is a big difference from a rambunctious 9 year old. Talk to your doctor and see if the dosage should be changed, or a different med prescribed.

Your son has a lot to cope with, being young, though you don't say his age, and having bipolar as well. The mood swings could be hormonal as well as the bipolar, difficult to tell which at this stage. He will need careful monitoring, and many trials with different drugs. If he is in his teens, then hormones will play a large part in his mood swings and emotions. He won't understand why he feels the way he does. To add to that he has adhd, life must be very difficult for both of you. You have my sympathy.

Because those are labels that allow the scripts to be written. You then give them to your child out of despiration. You will most likely be next if you tell anyone in the mental health industry what you have realized. They also are very good at convincing parents that it's healthy. Take the meds yourself and find out. When a child is exhibiting learned behavior the source should be viewed and a goal should be made to modify behavior. Don't expect the mental health field to help you with this they aren't in the business of holistic solution which would include truthful examination of the entire environment which includes every single person the child has contact with often. It's not about blame it's about helping direct a child to grow forward so he/she can be spiritually healthy and able to lead a healthy adult life.

because his system is all outa wack. it was when he was diagnosed also. meds only cover up symptoms and add new ones. what your son needs is a good healthy diet, and lifestyle. how much exercise does he get? at least 1h/day? does he eat refined foods, sugars, soft drinks, white flour, candy, common breakfast cereals, bottled juices? go back to the basics, whole grains, fruit and vegetables, beans, fresh juices. a vegan diet would probably benefit him. throw away your TV. take your son for walks, parks, bike riding, and the library EVERY day.put him on a reading/ rewards program. censor his friends, and most of all, make him feel like the most loved being on this planet. good luck!
