usually the height of 10 foot is not considerd while saying the tonnage of an A/C.

So 13*12 is enough to specify.

A 1.5 tonn A/C is enough to accomodate 250 sq.foot area.
Yours is only 156 sq. foot (13*12)

So 1.5 tonn is more than enough.

the power consumption of split and window a/c will be more or less same.

One advantage with split a/c is low noise and no need to break the window. a small hole is enough to bring the water outlet.

In case of window installation will take about 2 days.

Price will be:

window 1.5tonn -- Least (voltas)10,000-12000
Split- 1.5 tonn -- Least 22000 (LG)

For selecting a proper AC you need to know several things, like

1. Its application, e.g bed room, class, laboratory, office etc etc.
2. The room to be air conditioned is under bare roof or there are room over it.
3. Location and number of doors and windows viz east, west etc.
4. Building material and its heat conduction coefficient.
5. Number of occupants.
6. Light load.
7. Any heat source present or not and its wattage.

Confused???

Dont worry for exact calculation you really need so many input. After all this is engineering and engineers study the subject for 4years.

However, as a thumb rule I can tell you the tonnage requirement for such a small room for residential application.

An 1.0Tr AC will be sufficient.

Power Consumption will be more or less same for split and window AC.

Cooling ability of window ac is definitely better than split.

Window AC is around INR10,000/- less costly than split AC.

Split AC tends to provide lower cooling capacities than whole units. I don't see why, that just seems to be today's trend.

Split AC was developed to allow a cleaner and more upscale presentation inside the room where it is cooling. A decorative thing.
