There has been three changed to the Fixed Penalty Notice's.(FPN)
i. Using a mobile whilst driving(Includes stationary and also includes texting)
Hands free, means hands free IE both hands on the wheel, not holding it in one hand and shouting at the phone.
ii. Using a mobile phone whilst supervising an unqualified driver"learner"
iii. Not in proper control.
IE reading a map. smacking the kids, eating, changing channels on radio. Police officer must show loss of control.
Will invite a fine of £60 and 3 Penalty Points

Yes, however, if whilst using your hands free the Constable forms the view that your full attention was not on the act of driving the vehicle, you may be driving without due care and attention (section 3).

Yes it is, but my own experience tells me it may be legal but it sure as hell not safe. Nearly kissed the backside of a taxi on the m25 whilst being asked to quote for an urgent job. After that, no way am i talking to anyone on the phone while driving!

Up to press yes but if involved in an accident and police trace your number to see if you were on mobile at that time you can still be prosecuted even if hands free seen it on bbc news last night so be careful :)

Hi, yes at the moment, but they are trying to ban that as well, your best bet is to get a Bluetooth if your phone is compatible, It's getting to the stage where you cant even eat, drink (soft drinks) or smoke for your own enjoyment, this country is getting to be a bloody joke

I don't know the new law, but where I live and work, we have what is called Driver Inattentiveness. Which means if you are doing anything to distract you while driving, and you have a wreck, it could be determined to be your fault
