On the lip itself. I will never tattoo lips without anesthetic. It just won't happen otherwise. After that it is all based on the person.
Some feel it's the side rib area, others say over the sternum, some say their inner arm toward the armpit, others say the foot, and then others say genetalia.
Even though it is pretty standard the bonier the area, the more painful it is, thigh work kills for many people! As I said, it is all different for everyone, AND different based on if they are tired, haven't eaten, having had liquor the night before or that day, (smoking weed makes it way worse) or if women are in a bad part of their cycle.

I'd say the ribs is one of the most painful places to get a tattoo. I've been told by a lot of people that getting a wrist tattoo hurts but for others it was an enjoyable experience and they felt little pain. It really all depends on your pain threshold.

In my personal experience, the 2 most painful places for me(wouldn't call it a tie, per se, but REALLY hard to say one is WAY worse than the other) have been:
The last half hour of the 7 and half hours spent on my backpiece (not the spine part though, further away from the spine, toward ribs and sensitive muscles) and
The cherry blossom petals on pubic area...where the bottom of the ink is less than 1/2 an inch above the goods.

I am 5' foot and weigh 110 lbs and I walked into a tatoo studio and told them I wanted a tattoo from my rib(bra area) all the way down to my hips and they laughed at me....then when we were done he gave me a discount for not moving at all......but everyone has a different tolerance for pain....and obviously if little me can handle it there than it must not be that bad.

I have the top of my foot tattooed, and it didn't hurt that bad. As you can see a lot of people think it DID hurt , so it really depends on you and your pain tolerance. I also have a tattoo on my ankle and I thought that one hurt like hell! I've heard ribs suck really bad, and can completely understand why.
Now, I wouldnt know from personal experience, but I saw a picture of a guy, who had the arches of his feet tattooed...The thought makes me cringe in pain...and i'd imagine that one probably hurts quite a bit

I have 2 tats, 1 on top of foot and 1 on lower back!! The 1 on top of my foot hurt like hell!! The skin is really thin there and is basically hitting bone!! The 1 on my back hurt in some spots, close to the spine and around the kidney area!!!

Any place on your body with "thin" skin - i.e. under your arm, on top of your feet, on your neck. Another painful spot is the bottom of your back because a lot of your nerve endings are there. I have some tats across the top of my back and they were a breeze. The one at the bottom of my back felt like he was stabbing me with a hot knife.
Hopefully that helps.

the thinner the skin in the area being tattooed the more painful. thats why the neck and ribs hurt so much. for your first its better to get it on the arms
