Any one can be forgiven for anything. It depends upon whether or not they have remorse for their actions or not. Have they learned anything. If not, there is no reason to forgive.

If they have shown remorse and a desire to change, and have shown a desire to put things back, put it in the past, let it go, and forgive.

Cheating is a crime. Whether a politician cheats or a thief, its a crime and hence punishable. but the impact of cheating is more when a politician cheats, becoz he is a public servant, meaning he is supposed to serve us not cheat us, A politician is considered a moral person an upstanding citizen choosen to serve his people if he cheats, it more damaging than when a thief cheats who has no scrupples, and already is a victim of crime and cannot be trusted as it is, if he cheats we can forgive him, give him a second chance, but if a politician cheats then we cannot forgive him, since he has broken the ideals and the trust of the people.
its a very impressive question.

Both are Criminals.

But according to me, Thieves only rob money, gold and material things.....
Politicians.... cheat with faith, trust, money and sentiments of innocent people.

Thief can be punished and can return us our belongings and are easy to trace.

But, Politicians.... are untraceable as well cannot be punished.

Worse are.... 'THIEVE- CRIMIAL POLITICIANS'
