Should all parents be forced to go to parties and nightclubs and raves?
And made to watch videos of exactly what their little darlings get up to so they loose all these bulshit delusions of innocent 16 year olds being kids as crap like that...
All I ever saw in most (decent realisitic open minded hippy ex parents excluded) was this loonley tunes thinking that only bad kids try dope, alcohol or have any interest in the opposite sex.
And their little johnny or daddies little girls would never do that or have any interest in it.
Any 'obession' people think I have is centrered around that.
Im realistic, I say things exactly as I see them.
If everyone was doing A and having fun, I will never say it is bad or become a hypocrit.
I will also want any kids I have doing it.
If something genuinely was harmful to friends then I would say so.
I would tell kids exactly what we did, what was ok, what was not.
Sex ed would not be all marriage or miss positio

it would be groping in cars, making out bjs, hand down pants and over quickly...
Not as its pervey, but bas its real life.
In the UK many go off for club 18-30 holidays...
vasicially getting drunk and getting laid in Spain...
As this comes before marriage, sex ed would be tailored for that.
Not as its pervey or creepy but as real life.
Firedrills would have smoke and crawling,
Drug ed would involve positive and negative effects, the truth, the whole truth and nothing held back.
Neither doing the basics, but all of it so no gaps to be filled in with bulshit.
If the parents dont like it... tough
That would mean joints are described as filterless cigarattes with a little dope on top and all the bad effects of smoking tababacco.
Ecstaty mentioned as something which does make people nice and huggy and friendly and raves are usually peaceful and colourful... but there are dangerous side effects which need to be dealt with and you dont know what

you are taking unless you use a testing kit.
Poining out never to drink lots of water and to make sure you keep cool. Saying it would be great if all it did was make you wantto hug everyone but till somone makes a better substace its not that simple.
In thailand their anti drink drive and speeding posters would make you puke with arrive on the scen pics whith the bodies in those mangled wrecks with guts everyhwere.. persoanlly I would use video footage for when people are not quite dead.
Kids found messing with guns to be made to watch in hospitals as shooting victems are brought in and docotrs try and save their lives.
But its more the parents then the teenagers who need reality forced on them.
Thats the central theme of all those posts talking about mid teenagers ending up with older guys who are ofen less mature then they are.
I dont have the same seedy mind and parents hear have , I was not mean. I simple say as I saw. If Mates were happy it was good

In europe they are realisitc and as a direct result their teen pregnancy is tiny.
http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/publications/factsheet/fsest.htm
no abstenance bull, they actually expect teenagers to be sexaul and dont see it as a problem... but bring kids up to be responsible with relaltiionship and emotional support .
Plus start long before kids teen teenagers which would horrify many US and UK parents but the stats tell it all
A female tv presnter also gave a realisitic portrayal of teen life
http://education.guardian.co.uk/schools/story/0,,1075928,00.html
As do films like
KIDS
and KIDADULTHOOD.
Parents lived these times so why the bullshit & hypocracy & denial of vital info?
Or crap about all guys being preditory and all girls innocent... when most of the time I saw the girls confident and the guys sensitive & easily heart broken.
Which is probably why they end up only wanting to sleep with girls , as each time they cared they got hurt

so why is it that when people are honest and truthful, who say things as they are and tell kids what they need to know, they are deemed perves and other rubbish?

I definitely agree with you...but I don't think they should have video tapes or whatever. Just let these ignorant people think that their kids are angels...who cares.
"I would tell kids exactly what we did, what was ok, what was not."
I'm doing the exact same. Why lie? And plus it will make them realize a lot of sh it and see that no one is perfect and people make mistakes or realize things, even the parents.
I'm trying to make a point but I don't think I'm making much sense...I'm tired, lol.

I suspect many parents forget what it was like for THEM when they were 'teenagers'.
Also they were brought up in different times / era's - therefore their understanding of 'modern' things, lifestyle, media etc, is somewhat distorted as they may still compare 'tees' to their 'teen' years. Many parents can be ignorant, dull, frightened, stupid, moronic and do not care what their 'darlings' are up to, others are loving, considerate, thoughtful, understanding and follow 'modern' trends - yet 'teens' are usually embarressed by this. It has always been the way that the 'young' think that everything they do is new and vibrant, that the 'old' will not understand! We need to teach the 'young' that the world does NOT revolve around them, nor that ANYTHING they say or do is new. IT HAS BEEN SAID AND DONE BEFORE - whatever the 'subject' may be. Art, books, films, music, fashion, violence, gangs, drugs, parties, sex, food blah blah blah.
I for one am tired of the 'young' thinking they know everything and of the 'old' thinking that know everything, we should all be learning from each other!!

I get what you are saying, alot of parents think that their children would never do drugs or have sex or anything like that. I wouldnt want to see my kids doing it but im not gonna act like they are not. My husband and I are open-minded and once our kids get older at least 16 if they want to try smoking pot they will do it with us, I would rather have them do it at the house then out somewhere getting it from someone they dont know where it could be laced with something.

All will become clear to you when you become a parent yourself, and hopefully love your children and want to protect them, and keep them from growing up too fast and helping them enjoy their childhood.
Your viewpoint is that of a typical teenager (I would guess you are about 15-16 or slightly less?)
You are a child, you have NO experience of life to speak of. But you are thinking! That's good!
I hope you grow up to be a loving, protective parent, who will know when to say a firm "NO! You cannot have another sweet until after dinner" to your child.

Not all parents are like that though. My parents are conservative to the hilt, but make no qualms about not pretending that they dont know what its like. They have opinions and standards for living for themselves and that they expressed to me as a youngster, but as I got older they understood that decisions are mine and the consequences also and allowed me the freedom to do what I want, with the faith that I was smart enough to not make a mess of it (and a decade later at 24, I am happy to say I didn't)
I think that these days you actually refer to a vast minority of parents in your opinions, the world has changed since the Happy Days era...

OK so let me get this straight... you want your folks to allow you all sorts of dangerous, stupid, and possibly illegal behaviour but you want to reserve the right to blame them when you f**k your life up. Because you call it like you see it, right? Do me the favor of printing this little diatribe out and keeping it till you're a grownup.

i did enough partying when i was younger, i dabbled in recreational drug taking with Ecstasy and amphetamines and can quite honestly say the only good thing to come out of all that is i will know the signs in my children if they are foolish enough to try it.

You sound like a real piece of work. Were you bounced on your head as a baby? Your "get down, keep it real" hogwash is as infantile as it gets. Most of us don't have to put our hands in the fire to know it's hot. Parents reserve the right to be hypocrits but children don't get a pass for being defiant. If you were a real parent you'd already know this. Instilling value in our kids is our job, not a hobby. You might think your "for real" but you sound clueless to me.
