Hi folks

I'm on a strict calorie controlled diet to lose weight, just 1400 a day.

I normally have an apple or necterine for breakfast , around 8am, then get hungry by 10am so I have a small pot of yoghurt and 2 clementines in work, then I'm starving again by 11.30am!

I need a low calorie, filling breakfast I can make the night before and eat on the way to work.

Please help!

Thanks :)

p.s. any LOW CALORIE, filling snacks will be appreciated too!

I am dieting too but HATE diet food and don't have time to faff around. I have found the best thing for me is making a fruit smoothie for breakfast. You do have to make them fresh but they take seconds to make, quicker than a cup of tea. Cut up some fruit (banana, apples and berries perhaps) add a few dollops of low fat or fat free yoghurt and some fruit juice or milk to thin it down and whizz up in a food mixer for 20 or 30 seconds. All mess is contained in the mixer so minimal cleaning up time and the smoothie keeps me full till lunchtime with lots of energy and I feel less bloated than I did before as I now have over my 5 a day fruit and veg.

Good luck x

Nice and simple, Cornflakes and semi-skilled milk! I (also being on a strict calorie controlled diet) tend to prepare smoothies the night before and leave them in the fridge. They're filling, low calorie and an easy way to get your five a day. My personal favourite is:

2 bananas
12 strawberries (approx)
100 ml apple juice

All blended together and left in the fridge!

Filling and good for you.

Try adding some protein to your breakfast meal. I'm thinking you might feel more satisfied with a sort of "breakfast" sandwich in the morning. Think about some heart healthy low cal multigrain bread, one slice, 1 slice low or non fat American cheese, 3 thin slices of nearly fat free deli ham or turkey. Stick it under the broiler or in the microwave and heat until cheese melts. Slice up a nectarine to eat with it and you have a reasonably low fat, low cal breakfast that should keep you satisfied until later.

Bananas are great high in fibre and slow release carbs that keep you going for a lot longer. Porridge oats would also be a good breakfast.

Try 1/2 pint of low fat milk or low fat milkshake (eg Frijj) and a banana. Both are reasonably low cal and pretty filling.
