Hi,
Once you've found an artist to work with, who's painting style you enjoy, you would get in contact with the artist via email or other means and express your interest in commissioning them to paint your nude image but would like to add a stipulation into your contract. State to the artist your intent for the painting i.e. gift to partner. Remind the artist that neither the original photograph used in the creation of your painting or images of the completed painting should ever be used for his /her self-promotional purposes or for any reason whatsoever; without first obtaining your expressed permission and consent to do so. These photos are your personal property and are being lent to the artist for the sole purpose of creating a painting for you. Once the painting has been completed and delivered satisfactorily to you, along with ALL photos used for its construction, that's the end of it. You would then be able to enjoy your new work of art without having to look over your shoulder wondering if it would appear on the Internet.
Kinda like a Dr./Client confidentiality type thing.
I'd be more than happy to take on your commission if you'd like me to. Let me know!

I would think that most serious artists would be respectful of their clients private photos and you would have nothing to worry about.
P.S. Also as far as the painting goes...The better the photos taken, the better the painting can potentially be.
I'm assuming you're taking the photos yourself?
I hope I've helped a bit and not just confused you even more.
Sincerely,
Jim

Go to hellosanantonio.com, if you see an artist who's style you like contact them and ask them. I think a seductive portrait that one can comfortably hang to be seen as appose to a nude painting wouldn't be a bad idea. There are some really good and discreet artist at this site. Don't rush into anything and shop around till you find an artist you can trust and know will do a great job. Any artist who says he'll do it but has no samples of his work to show you and ask for a large down payment, i wouldn't trust. Also agree on a price ahead of time, get an estimated completion time, make sure he/she will keep you posted on the painting's progress and be aware that in most cases your initial down payment is none refundable so choose wisely.

The best thing I can tell you would be to ask your local art store about portrait artists and go from there. Call them and talk to them and if you don't feel comfy with them then don't use them.
Most artists that do freelance work are straight up. Most times all they have to fall back on is the work they've done and reputation. If anything were to happen with their rep they're screwed. So I wouldn't really worry too much on what you're thinking.
Like I said though you have to be comfortable with who you choose. You're putting faith into someone that you dont know with something personal. When you talk to them find out how long they've been doing what they do, how many portraits they've done, get a time line on how long it will take, if possible get progress updates so you know what's going on, and above all how the payment is to be worked out. Also make sure that all materials you supply come back to you.
It can be time consuming finding the person you're looking for so take your time and use your best judgement.
As long as it's a decent photo and it's well lit you shouldn't have any problems with how it comes out. I've done a couple of portraits where I had to scan it into my computer and lighten it up a ton and things came out fine. The better the materials you supply the better the final outcome though.
Good luck!

A portrait painting from a photograph will be crappy. For a decent painting you'll need to be nude in front of the artist so that he can really see you. You can find many good artists through your local College or University. Call the art department and see if they can recommend anyone. At the very least they will point you in the right direction. Make sure you interview the prospective artists and see their work before you make any decisions.

Your painting can still end up on the Internet. If you won't pose, the artist will have to work from a photo.
A draped nude is more flattering than a fool nude.

If you want to hear the truth. It is safest to NOT do such a painting or photos. No one ever got hurt by a person they didn't at one time trust.
I would get more turned on by a sexy clothed photo than nude painting, unless you would let him hang the painting where his friends could see it. hahaha

visit a local art school and talk to one of the professors, they may do private work themselves, may know other professional artists in the area, or may know of a serious student who is looking for an opportunity to do commissioned work.
also if you have a student do it, it will cost you less and could be just as good.
don't be afraid to contact them. they will most likely be open and helpful, all of my art professors are very big on perpetuating art in the community, and you would just be helping in doing that.

That's kind of hard to do, and a strange request at that. You could do a self portrayal, or meet artists from the local academy.
