The former boasts a wealth creation efficiency figure, or P2, of 140% (value added output as a percentage of the costs of employees and depreciation). The company invests more than 11% of its sales in R&D and 11% in Capex. Laird, meanwhile, has a wealth creation efficiency of 147%, but invests only 1.6% in R&D.
The best performing European electronics company is the Dutch Philips, with a P2 of 138%. UK owned electronics companies in the UK 800 sector include Invensys, Morgan Crucible, Spectris, TT electronics and Laird, whilst UK owned companies in the UK 800 technology hardware and equipment category are encompassed by ARM, Filtronic, Marconi (now Telent), Spirent and Danka Business Systems.
