I agree with monivros. If you need more detailed instruction ,the book Mindfulness In Plain English will give you easy to follow directions from a well established Sri Lankan monk with philosophy degrees from US universities who runs his own meditation centre in West Virginia. It is an easy to find book, well known. His name is Henepola Gunaratana. The basics are easy to understand, but require practice. Definitely worth the effort. Good luck.

As soon as I wake up for a new day, I say a prayer even before I get out of bed. Most of the time I'm up before sunrise. I go outside and rock on the front porch, face the horizon in the east, experience the sunrise, with either hot tea or coffee. I pay notice to the new sounds for the day--the birds, dogs barking, & I listen for winds rustling through trees. I pay attention to detailed things--colors of leaves, watching ants start their day at work, or even cloud formations. I try to notice the peace given to me at that time of the day before I face the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. The 30-minutes I begin my day with is special. It's my daily dose of happy pills. It sets my mood.

I make sure I'm in a quite room that's not too hot or cold. Place a 5cm mat under my bum. Sit in lotus position. close eyes and concentrate of the breath moving just underneath the nostrils. And think about nothing else... It's harder than you think...

i usuall go to the most quiet room in my house. sometimes it is in water because water relaxes the body so quicky. I the clear my mind of everything but the one thing I am most interested in or needs the most prayer, My body must be 100% relaxed asnd I then talk my mind out of my body,it takes about 2hours it is a spiritual rush!
