Your question worries me. Even if you don't pay for a dog initially, dogs are expensive. You have the small stuff. Collar, leash, license, food and water bowls, bed, crate, toys, tooth brush and paste. Then you get into what to feed the dog. A low cost poor quality food that will have you asking questions like,"why does my dogs breath smell so bad?" "why does my dog have a bad body odor?" "what can i give my dog to give it a shiny coat?" "why does my dog scratch all the time?" That's what cheap food can do for your dog. Now a premium quality food has the nutrients a dog needs without the corn and wheat fillers that cause problems and they don't have by products (want to feed your dog cancerous tissue?) Premium quality foods come at a premium price but they are worth it. Okay so far the dog hasn't cost much, what $100.00 maybe $200.00? But we haven't been to the vet yet. Shots, wormer, never use otc's, they can kill your dog. Fleas? Still needs a vet, again otc's are harmful, even fatal. Spay/neuter, unless you are goining to add to the millions of homeless dogs that die every year. Then there's the anual vet visits for shots and check up, including dental. Yes those teeth will need cleaned to stay healthy. Bad teeth cause other health problems which will be more vet bills. The anual vet visits are when the dog is yopung and healthy. As it gets older it will need semi-anual visits. Then there's the dogs that develope diseases and need ongoing care and meds. Oh, did I mention when the dog gets ill and/or injured (and it will) it will need a vet then? Free dog? Cheap dog? There is no such thing.

Want to hear a secret-
No dog or puppy is cheap. There's a price tag inside the butt that you don't notice until you get it home and the dog poops. The amount on that tag is huge and that's just for year one.One the dogs birthday another one pops out and the amount is a little less but still a nice hefty sum.
Dogs have wants and needs just like we do and those needs must be met.On top of that they need frequent vet visits and depending on the animals health you may find yourself working 2 jobs to afford to pay the vet.

Each of those breeds that you have mentioned are completely different in EVERY way!!! Tiny greyhound?? Greyhounds are big dogs, do you mean Italian greyhound?? And labs are large, chis are the only small dog you have listed.

FORGET THE PUREBREDS!

Try a shelter animal--there are thousands of homeless animals out there that would love to go home w/you--and the cost is usually minimal at the shelter.

You can keep checking the shelters for a "mix" similar to the size or characteristics you are looking for, and may possibly even find a "purebred," but the dog will not have the papers to have him registered.

But why pay all the extra money to register the dog w/a name that is bigger than he is? All he wants is your love, not a fancy (& expensive) piece of paper!

Good luck!

I see classified ads all the time for inexpensive, even free dogs. Some people have pups and are not able to sell them. Others are moving where they can't take a dog. You can also rescue dogs from the pound. A couple of local shock jocks used to do a show I liked, " dogs on death row " and would highlight dogs from the pound.

why do you want a cheap dog, if you cant afford to get one can you afford to keep it they dont come cheap to run like a car, if it breaks you need the vet as well as vaccinations, worming flea treatment, feeding etc, think first about the long term cost, then consider the dog, most animal shelters have dogs that need a a good home but they might have gone there from someone requiring a cheap dog in the first place

Just remember - no pure breed canine comes cheap. If u aren't bothered about its lineage just keep ur eyes open for the first stray dog you meet.
Best of Luck
