We split up recently and Im not sure that getting in touch with him right now will make things better or worse between us, but I really want him back. After 45 yrs I thought I had finally found the right man for me.

I was in a similar situation a couple of months ago.........I really wanted to let him know that I miss him and want him back, but I did not know how to approach him.
Anyhow, it was bugging me so much, that I finally decided to get in touch with him and see how he feels about getting back together.
It turned out he was not interested at all........he had already moved on from our relationship............the funny thing is that seeing that actually made it so much easier to move on for me as well!I am completely over him now, and I really think that if I did not do it then, I'd still be stuck in the same place right now, still hung up on him.
My point is that you have to let him know how you feel.If he feels the same way, well, great!you can start over!
And if he does not, it will not be easy for you to face, but at least you will know that you have to forget about him.
Anyhow, you are in a win win situation and you have got nothing to loose. Good luck!

If he's the one he'll be getting in touch with u...have u been spilt up for long? me n my bloke tend to hav our fallin outs dont speak for a week then he comes beggin for me bk im sure he just needs a bit of space

why not just stay as friends first, rather than just going right back in and pick up where you've left off? it's like you leave this pizza on the table for 5 days and then stick it back into your mouth...

You'll never know unless you try, he won't be out there picking up psychic vibes from you, so do something about it or you will never know if he was the one. If you don't try to get him back then you will always wonder "What if...."
