The features that got me attracted to Nikon S10 is that it has a powerful Optical Zoom (10x) and it can recognize Human faces and auto zoom. When compared to Sony, this is cheaper than with that of similar features and memory card costs less.

Please let me know on an alternative and if this product has any flaws.

I love Nikon cameras, but the S10 looks like a dud.
Here's an in-depth review: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikons10/page12.asp
My other favorite review site, http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html , doesn't list the S10 (yet).
As for other options, the review mentions the Canon S3 IS and the Panasonic DMC-FZ7. You can use the two sites I gave you to pull up reviews for those models, too. I've heard a lot of good things about the S3.

I would shy away from the S10, just because it has that goofy pivot in the middle of the camera. It's one more thing to go bad.

I'll agree with OMG in suggesting the Canon S3-IS. My daughter has had her S2-IS for about a year now and we are both very happy with the camera. Check out the S3-IS.

As far as "face detection," this is no big deal. If you can point and lock focus with your camera - which they all can do - the face detection only slows down the autofocus mechanism. I have it on my Canon SD900 and I have turned it off.
