Yes- if you have the opportunity, and the time, why not?
I don't know why everyone is so keen on promoting public schools. There are some really asinine comments on here, about social skills and such. Do you know what social skills I developed in public schools? Kissing, drugs, smoking, premarital sex, and parties were the main social skills I learned.
I was bored stiff in school, even though I was in the college prep courses, I barely survived with my sanity I was so bored the whole time. I wish I had had the opportunity to be home schooled, I think I would have loved being able to study at my own pace and not have to study at the pace of the slowest kid in class.
Kids have a natural love to learn, a natural curiosity, that is often ridiculed and squashed in the public schools. There are so many resources available, that homeschooling is emerging as one of the best ways to secure a quality education for children. I say this as one that barely survived my public school experience, and as one that has recently started homeschooling our own children.
Do not be afraid. Be strong and courageous. Do what is best for your children, and forget those that make stupid comments on socialization, they don't know what they are talking about, they are merely parroting the negativity that they have heard from others.

If you live in the U.S., the government won't stop you.
And if your children are old enough, you don't necessarily have to have a lot of time, as long as you went through a correspondence course.
Your children's social lives will not be harmed. It might actually become better. Many homeschoolers can carry on intelligent conversations with adults. Of course, there are always some bad examples, so if they aren't old enough to stay home by themselves or do schoolwork on their home, you at least need someone to sit with them (but that's always a nice bonding experience).
Also, Columbia U. found that homeschoolers scored higher on college entrance exams than other students.
Ultimately, if you have the time (or if your kids can go through a correspondence program), I think homeschooling is an awesome idea...just make sure you set a daily, weekly, and monthly homework schedule.

I have to agree with most of the others. I homeschool my son and have done so for the last 3 years. The first step is to search the internet for homeschool groups in your state. The members are very helpful in answering your questions. You will be surprised at how many organizations there are out there! Start by googling "homeschool (state)". Don't hesitate to contact these groups, we are all interested in helping other potential homeschoolers. I found several support groups in my state of SC and got answers to all my questions. Without the internet, I don't know what I would have done!

Yes! And you don't have to be an expert in every subject. Ignore the negative comments and start checking out books about homeschooling from your local library.
There is lots of information out there to help you get started.
Homeschooling is a great way to educate your children and give them a great start in life.
Good Luck.

Legally, that will depend on where you live. If it's in the US or Canada or many other countries, no problem. In other places like Germany, no.
As for are you able to, only you can determine that. Some people truly aren't made to homeschool. That's fine. Some people aren't made to be doctors or nurses or firefighters! You need to decide if you are committed to making it a great educational experience and a great upbringing for your kids. You also need to decide if you have the personality to handle it all.
Good luck!

Homeschooling is a wonderful way to stay close to your children while helping them become well-rounded adults. It offers you the opportunity to tailor your children’s education to suit your children, your lifestyle, and your beliefs. Schooling at home also gives you a safe ‘home base’ for your children while they explore the people and places around them. With the ability to individualize your child’s education, you can truly foster a life long love of learning.

You can home school your children if you wish. Take into consideration though that school is not used for education purposes only. Preschool especially is good for interacting with others, and taking that step towards Independence. I suppose it depends on the age of your children. Of course it is your choice, and you can do what you wish.

yes you can....it is hard work but well worth the effort...those posting about home schooled children being socially stunted ... apparently have never home schooled a child nor, been around many that are.......or they would know this old stereotype is just that....an old stereotype.....
by the way, it is funny to see this comment over and over ....when the social trends among the young is set by home schoolers....do they really believe that these young actresses and actors go to public school ?
