a girl told me about a dirty bathroom in a certain restaurant and that she saw the people kooking the food not washing their hands etc. So, of course, being cautious to avoid this restaurant, I asked which one it was; and she's like "I can't say". Why are people so adamant to protect the businesses and not peoples health?

She is an idiot. I would have reported the place to the health bureau. By the way....take that pic off. I have to go to bed and you scared me.

Perhaps in spite of everything she has a friend or family member who works there. Or she has addressed the issue & they've promised her they'd improve. Or indeed she was just making up a story for whatever reason -making conversation, sounding like something had finally happened to her if she feels she has a dull life, or wanting to see people's reaction as a 'what would you do' type of thing.
A good possibility is also that she is afraid to be sued for slander or something; people generally are more interested to save their own skin than that of the restaurant *or* you. While people in the US are indeed more likely to sue than here in Europe I'd still say you could safely give a bad restaurant review to a friend, however some people are just extraordinarily afraid of such things.

Maybe the food is sooo good over there that she still continues to eat there and is too ashamed and does not want you to know?? Otherwise I can't think of any other reason why she would not reveal it.
If it were me I would tell every one I knew, including the owner, if I saw that. Yuck!

sheesh...maybe she works there? maybe its' because she has family who works there? hmmm....sounds like she has something to hide...I would have to say that maybe it's HER who is guilty of doing the same thing, in a restaurant, or other establishment!
Be careful, though....this is why I stay away from restaurants....
