Life isn't just about money and neither is a career, although you seem to think it is, going by the questions you ask.

You might have to elaborate on him having a career. I can only think of a few jobs that would be a big distraction to a career. Is he becoming a catholic priest? Is he becoming an astronaut and going to a space station for a long time? Well if the answer is no to these questions, then I don't see a reason why you would have to give him up to have a career. If the relationship as good as you say, and if he is a one and a million guy, then he should come up with a good way for him to try his best to manage his career with you. To add to this though, you have to do your best to understand that he has a career and support him as best as possible. Hopefully he will realize that you are his support system and he will need you just like he needs his career.
Good Luck

Why do you have to give him up so he can have a career? Why not stay with him and support him in his new career.

you can have both a fufilling relationship and a career. if he is telling you otherwise it seems like you are already losing him. if he doesn't seem to think he'll have time for you, that you will lose interest... whatever his excuses are... that's how it seems to me
