Beer is surprisingly nutritious. Besides the expecteced carbs, there are anti-oxidants, chromium, and load of b vitimins. The alcohol is minimal, generally, but one would want to limit consumption there because of the "empty calorie" effect, for one, as well as the addiction issue. Alcohol is addictive, though not quite so much as nicotine, sugar, or other drugs. Excessive alcohol consumption is wearing on the detoxifying ability of the liver, not to mention brain cells. 1-3 12 oz curls per day, generally no problem.
I would expect that the " bleeding" in his stomach is not directly related to the beer. I would unquestionably see a doctor about that, as it is a symptom of a much more serious issue.

If he's honestly only drinking a beer or two a day, then I doubt it would cause stomach bleeding. Most alchoholics I know have these symptoms, but only after drinking hard alchohol for years and years.
In fact, beer is actually considered good for you by several reports (not as good as red wine, and rather heavy in carbs, but think of it like bread in a glass...). It helps the heart---in moderation.
If he drinks a case of beer every day, then yes, it's probably catching up with him. It's been my experience, however, that if someone says they're only drinking a little but then having symptoms of a lot, guess what? They're drinking a lot and just not being honest.
Hope that helps!

If he's having 2 or 3 beers every day, he's not getting drunk, and is likely not an alcoholic. Alcoholics need the drunk feeling, so if he drinks beer, he will be drinking at least 6 beers a day, probably quite a bit more.

Your friend sounds like an alcoholic. There isn't much you can do for him until he is willing to admit that he has a problem. You could try getting his other friends and his family together to do an intervention. If everyone he cares about tells him that his problem is their problem and that there really is a problem he may come to the realization that he has a problem a whole lot soon. And yes he can be hurting his liver by drinking more then one a day. If he keeps it up his liver and then his kidneys probably. Good luck I am going to say a quick prayer for you and your friend.

it does not make him a teetotaler,
many people who drink everyday ,discover one day they they cannot do without it
tell your friend to give up drinking once in a while
for his health and to check if he is an alcoholic yet
he should be abler to go with out for 2 weeks ,if he cant
he may be in trouble
not drinking for a few days tells you nothing
and yes stomach problems can definately be related to habitual alcohol use.

Two drinks a day should be okay. I try to drink wine everyday but it costs too much money and can be bothersome at times.
