Would the consider the culmination of the following as date?
(i) guy picks girl up;
(ii) guy brings the girl to a posh place to eat;
(iii) guy then brings girl for coffee;
(iv) guy apologises to girl for having to make leave that afternoon because of wedding dinner...
guy proceeded to talk about gf. :O

At first it definately sounds like a date. Maybe he too realized that it seemed too much like a date and that is why he talked about his girlfriend. Or maybe hes trying to set it up so he can be a player (so to speak). I wouldn't leave it up in the air, I would definately ask him about it, if it ends up a little embarassing then it'll be a good story to tell people in the future.

It sounds like he has a girlfriend but is interested in you as well. He probably either wants to cheat with you, or break up with her then go out with you. You should probably find out which one it is before you go any further! He is clearly interested in you though, that was definitely a date. That he paid for your food is pretty much universal social code for "this is a date."

kinda a date but if he started talkin bout his girl in a good way then it is not a date but if he did so in a bad way he is lettin u no he is lookin 4 sum1 else.

yeah... but he talks about his gf? why is he going out with you and have a gf? maybe it's just a friendly outing instead of a date, they can be simliar at times.

i think thats just a friendly lunch/drink of coffee. to catch us and stuff and just hang out; afterall its good to see new faces.
