Jihad means struggle in Arabic. Not holy war.

Jihad:
is an Arabic word that means "striving in the way of God." This striving can take a number of forms, including the daily inner struggle to be a better person.

(literally "struggle" or "striving").

"Jihad" (ǧihād جهاد) is an Arabic word which comes from the Arabic root word "jahada", which means "exerting utmost effort" or "to strive".

Christians have many of the same traits, but having been a Christian during the Crusades, I hesitate to say that we were angry paupers, and that is what we were. We were forced to take up the Cross and ride into enemy territory in a desperate effort to prove our worthiness to the Church and State that existed at the time.
It was basically a war between our own Church and State. And it was over the increase of humans that were pushing the feeble economic system of that time.
So they sent us on a Jihad, hoping that we died as martyrs and did not come back to be a burden of the leadership at the time.
The Crusades and the Jihads are the same thing, but Bush and Company came to the Jihad's. The people of the Middle East say, "We want to thank you infidel, for making it easy to kill the you!"

the literal translation of jihad is struggle, the prophet muhammad may peace and blessings be upon him said that there were two kinds of struggles.
one of them being the lesser rewarding, a physical struggle, this can vary from something as little as having a hard time lifting weights to having trouble defeating an enemy in battle (not nessiraily through hand to hand combat)
the seconed kind the prophet mentioned which he aslo mentioned to be the more rewarding, was the emotional or spirtual struggle which entails something along the lines of keeping your identity as a muslim or struggle to find God. If your wondering why jihadists kill so many people is as simple as follows they are ignorrant of their own religion, i hope i was able to shed some light onto this questioning of what jihad really means. God bless

Jihad is a belief that a lot of extremists have blown out of proportion and the message that Jihad tries to get across isn't what the extremists see. They take it to a whole different level. They add their own scripts and structure to this belief.
Apparently, Jihad is supposed to be a kinder, gentler form of belief that combines freedom, protection and serenity with the strength within the believers, to fight for those beliefs, but they take that word "fight", literally!!

You talking about the "holy war"? Seeing that I am not of that religion, I can't say too much about it, except I don't see how they can think God will allow them in Heaven after self murder. That is an unforgiven sin.

The only Holy War that will have any true meaning will be the LAST GREAT WAR. Tribulations
