Which is better if you just want a bigger (clear) picture with standard cable?

We are looking at a 42" EDTV LG plasma (42PC3DV) or a 50" Toshiba DLT (50HMX96). We currently have a 27" RCA; we are looking for decent quality in a bigger picture and don't want to spend a fortune...please help.

Skip the EDTV, you might as well go for HDTV, they cost pretty much the same.
The bigger the screen, the worse analog cable looks. Plan to upgrade to at least digital cable.
