...and you were in the middle of watching tv. What would be a good reason for you to stop what you were doing and listen to what I have to say?

I don't like solicitors. So unless you were really hot and knocking on my door to cater to my every need, I would not want to talk to you or listen to anything you had to say.

It depends on what I was watching and what time you knocked on the door. If you were polite and had a good reason for knocking I would listen to what you had to say. As I only watch TV in the evening, not during the day, you would have to have a good reason to be knocking that late so I would hear you out.

You're the one that should have a good reason for knocking on my door in the first place.

If I had the power of Tivo at my fingertips.

No really, I would stop watching TV no matter what a visitor had to say, important or otherwise. It would be rude not to (of course having the ability to pause live TV never hurts either).

Just say,

"I am a gorgeous man with the face of Gale Harold and the body of Brad Pitt. I want to date you and have been waiting for my whole life. Let's travel to Tuscany and make passionate...

You'd have to prove that, of course. Otherwise I'm back to watching romantic comedies on Encore Romance. :-D

if you were not ashamed to disturb me, then I think I should not be ashamed to tell you, of course in a nice way, that I am not interested, that I am very tired and I would really appreciate it if they go some place else, where there is someone who is not too tired to listen.

If you were conveniently carrying a case of beer in one hand, I'd shut up and listen.

if there were an instant cash prize that you would reward me after you had finished asking me something interesting, but the cash would have to be signigicant enough. like 20 bucks at least.

A good reason would be you informing me that you're about to give me a trillion Dollars.
